Entuity integrates management
Company releases upgrade to flagship product that monitors performance, fault and inventory.

NEW YORK - Entuity this week announced the latest release of its network management software that the company claims can now manage fault, performance and inventory across networks. The product also includes support for frame relay management.
Entuity's Eye of the Storm 2.7 now features a software engine called StormWorks that customizes data collected from networks, servers and applications by Eye of the Storm and correlates fault, performance and inventory across an enterprise network. Company officials say with this release they've opened up the Eye of the Storm architecture to better share data across management disciplines.
"The StormWorks management software can assess the services associated with the data gathering," says Jeremy Tracy, Entuity vice president of corporate strategy. The company says Eye of the Storm provides a detailed network inventory down to the port level, compiles usage statistics and provides real-time control over network degradation. The company says this new version can automatically relate fault and performance events to the assets an enterprise IT department owns.

"The inventory piece goes out and discovers the assets and the performance piece determines how much, if at all, those assets are being used. This can help companies be more fiscally responsible" by spotting underutilized resources," Tracey says.
Eye of the Storm runs on a Windows NT or Sun Solaris server and upon installation automatically discovers the network down to Layer 2 and Layer 3. Users can view the data collected by Eye of the Storm through a Web-based central console.
Another feature new to Version 2.8 is management support for frame relay networks. Eye of the Storm in the past managed WAN links and now Entuity added the frame relay support as well as router resource management in the product.
Eye of the Storm 2.7 is available now, with pricing starting at $50,000 for an average enterprise implementation.
